A Weekend at The Ritz

On January 31st 2021 I conducted my first Travel Agent Familiarization (Fam) trip at The Ritz Carlton Bacara Santa Barbara. I arrived early to get the lay of the land and explore a bit. I sat down for Happy Hour at there Outdoor Dining Restaurant and I ordered The Bacara Sangria and Beef Floutas which were both delouse. I loved being able to sit by the fire pit and just relax while I enjoyed my meal.

I then went to see my room for the first time. The incredible staff upgraded my room to a Beautiful Ocean View Suite complete with a fireplace, 2 bathrooms, 2 sitting areas and a large balcony. It felt like a Spanish Cabin with Coastal Views.

On Monday, I met with Virginia from their sales team to conduct my Site Inspection. She was very knowledgable and I was happy to learn the history of the property and get the full tour. After that, I went to check out the pool and get some R&R. It was a beautiful pool with an ocean view. I thoroughly enjoyed relaxing there. The Beach is walking distance but it is a natural beach so you won't find any frills. They also have a beautiful but steep walk along the coast as well as a nature preserve. The resort does provide some lawn games as well as activities like hiking and yoga.

What stood out to me most about this property was the service. The Valet was incredibly nice and helpful; they unpack your luggage, load it up and have it delivered to your room while your car is being valeted. Everyone who works there calls you by your last name and is as accommodating as possible. They even call your room after your meal to see how everything was.

I want to touch on Covid Protocol's as I know that is something on everyones mind when getting back into traveling. Masks are required inside the building but luckily most of this property is outside. They have limited restaurants open for outdoor dining but they also have an extensive room service menu. There are QR Codes in your room that link to each of the menu's. As far as the pool goes, you do have a make a reservation and you have to check in when you arrive and sanitize your hands. They have the lounge chairs spaced out 6 feet apart and they assign you a chair with the towel. I actually feel like this is the perfect resort to go to during Covid since its all outside and they do have great Covid Protocols in place.

I hope that gave you some insight on what it is like to stay at this famous resort.
